MBB: Valparaiso trails wire-to-wire in conference loss to Murray State

VALPARAISO - Roger Powell Jr. walked into Saturday’s postgame press conference alone following Valparaiso’s 74-56 loss to Murray State at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

The second-year coach spoke for nearly 10 minutes after the Beacons trailed wire-to-wire in dropping their ninth straight game.

Powell’s tone barely rose above more than a conversational level and each answer carried with it a pained resignation of where the Beacons sit in the second week of February with six regular-season games remaining before next month’s Missouri Valley Conference tournament.
