CEDAR FALLS - Northern Iowa was bigger on paper, stronger at the line of scrimmage and faster down the field than the Valparaiso football team on Saturday afternoon.

It all showed in the final score as the Panthers rolled to a 35-7 victory at the UNI-Dome in the season opener for both teams.

It’s hard to glean much from a game where one team is a fully-funded scholarship program that regularly competes in the Division I FCS playoffs and the other is a non-scholarship program giving up height and weight at every position.

With that in mind, here are five takeaways from the game.
