DES MOINES - A bad week got worse for the Valparaiso football team on Saturday afternoon.
Just days after losing tight end Evan Jernegan to a knee injury in practice, the Beacons lost starting quarterback Mikey Appel Jr. to an apparent upper body injury in the third quarter of Saturday’s Pioneer Football League road opener at Drake.
