MBB: Beacons drop fourth Valley overtime game of the season, fall to No. 10 seed in Arch Madness
There wasn’t much to say on Sunday afternoon that hadn’t been said a half dozen times already this year.
The Valparaiso men’s basketball team let another late lead slip away with a combination of bewildering plays and frustrating calls. When the dust settled, the Beacons fell 77-76 to Murray State in the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season finale.
Valparaiso will enter next week’s Arch Madness tournament as the No. 10 seed and will take on the No. 7 Racers at 6 p.m. in St. Louis.
“It’s becoming a little comical to be honest with you,” Valparaiso coach Matt Lottich said. “I don’t know if comical is the right word. We just have to close out games.”
While Lottich is left wondering if “comical” is the right word to apply to Sunday’s game, there is a question as to which comedy of errors provided the heartiest of laughs.
