VALPARAISO - Carin Avery walked into a dimly lit corner of the Athletics-Recreation Center on Saturday night and practically collapsed onto a bench.

The longtime Valparaiso volleyball coach took a deep breath and let out a long exhale as a boisterous celebration rang out in the adjacent arena.

The Beacons had just erased an early deficit against Murray State to knock off the Racers in four sets. This coming one night after Valpo was victorious in a reverse sweep against Belmont in a battle between two of the best teams in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Avery could only shake her head at the last 24 hours as the Beacons continued to keep pace near the top of the Valley and all while doing it without one of their best players in both matches.
