Beacons fall late to St. Louis

WBB: Valparaiso doubled up in fourth quarter against the Billikens

ST. LOUIS - The Valparaiso women’s basketball team was 10 minutes away from a signature nonconference victory against the defending WNIT champions on Wednesday afternoon.

Then the fourth quarter happened.

St. Louis doubled up the Beacons in the final quarter, outscoring Valparaiso 26-13 to come away with a 69-59 victory at Chaifetz Arena.

Instead of celebrating a strong victory, the Beacons were left to pick up the pieces after suffering their 11th straight nonconference road loss. Valparaiso hasn’t won a nonconference road game since knocking off Central Michigan 71-64 in the 2022-23 season opener.
