Valparaiso's coaches hit the town for Third Annual Summer Coaches Tour

VALPARAISO - Courtney Boyd was feeling the pressure at the end of a long day.

The first-year Valparaiso women’s basketball coach was locked in her stance awaiting what was to come, only Boyd wasn’t standing in the Athletics-Recreation Center and she didn’t have a whistle in her hand. Instead, Boyd was holding an ice cream scoop behind the counter at Valpo Velvet Ice Cream in downtown Valparaiso.

Boyd and the rest of Valparaiso’s coaches traveled the city on Wednesday as part of Valpo’s third annual summer Coaches Tour. The day started with a Chamber of Commerce event, included several events aimed at children and included public events at Wings Etc. Grill & Pub as well as Valpo Velvet where each of the coaches took turns serving up free scoops of ice cream to the public.
