Martha Goddard (12) and Kiara Desiderio (10) are two big reasons why Valparaiso might turn the corner in 2026

The flickering light of a bright future has been on display all season for the Valparaiso women’s soccer team.

That light will have to do much more than flicker if the Beacons are going to take the next step forward in 2026.

The 2025 regular-season came to an end on Thursday afternoon in Evansville, and for the second straight year, Valparaiso is missing out on the postseason. The Beacons finished in a tie with Belmont for eighth-place and finished one win shy of qualifying for the Missouri Valley Conference tournament. The irony is Valpo’s nine points would’ve been good enough to qualify for the postseason last year, but the Valley cut the amount of tournament teams from eight to six this season.

As the conference tournament gets began on Sunday, the Beacons instead began looking ahead to a long offseason and the promise of another opportunity in 2026.

Here is a way-too-early look at the 2026 Valparaiso women’s soccer program.
