The fire that ravaged the Valparaiso Art-Psychology building last month took away far more than just a physical space. It also scorched an indelible piece of Valparaiso’s history.

Long before the APB housed artists, musicians and psychologists, the building that rested in the shadow of the Athletics-Recreation Center was home to Valparaiso’s School of Engineering.

How the building came to be is just as breathtaking as the fire that claimed it.
