VALPARAISO - Valparaiso men’s basketball coach Roger Powell Jr. knows there is a lot of games left to be played this season. That’s why the second-year coach still remains positive even after the Beacons extended their losing streak to five games on Saturday afternoon.

The Beacons gave up a barrage of 3-pointers early to Evansville and then went nearly five minutes without scoring late in the first half as the Purple Aces went into the locker room on a 14-3 run. Valpo had a furious rally in the second half, but was never able to get within single digits in a 78-68 loss at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
