The Valpo Connection
FB: Valparaiso High School coaching staff filled with former players and coaches that share university bond
There’s something magical about the first snowfall of the year.
Long before the snow plows and salt trucks turn the precipitation into dirty slush and grime, there’s a beauty to those falling flakes. The serenity of the sky and the ground becoming one. The invitation to a winter wonderland that has us all feeling like children again.
Such was the scene on Wednesday night as the Valparaiso High School football team gathered to prepare for its IHSAA Class 5A semistate tilt with Fort Wayne Snider. Christmas music blared from the speakers as the Vikings alternated between running football plays and making snow angels.
In the middle of this snow globe in the Vale of Paradise were a group of men who felt like children again. Turn back enough pages in their story and you’ll find that long before they wore the green and white of Valpo High they wore brown and gold of Valparaiso University.
