There was optimism at first for Elise Swistek.

There was just no way that her knee injury was going to keep her out. Not when the Valparaiso outside hitter needed to be back to her teammates. Not when the Beacons were preparing for the Missouri Conference tournament and another trip to the NIVC.

Each day was a step in the right direction. Each day meant getting closer to getting back on the court. Then the days ran out.

Now, more than 10 months after suffering a season-ending knee injury that derailed her sophomore year, Swistek is back to make up for lost time.
