Stafford latest to commit to Valparaiso
MBB: Combo guard won NJCAA national title with John A. Logan
Isaiah Stafford is a winner.
From the moment Stafford stepped onto a competitive basketball court, the 6-foot-2 combo guard has only known winning.
Stafford won in high school, going 71-21 in three years at his native Bolingbrook (Ill.) High before transferring to Crispus Attucks (Ind.) for his senior year where he went 18-7 and was named the Indianapolis City Player of the Year.
He’s also won in college, as he helped lead Southern Indiana to an 18-8 record as a freshman during the 2021-22 season. Stafford then transferred to John A. Logan College where the Vols won the NJCAA national championship with a 33-2 record.
Now Stafford wants to help restore a winning culture to the Valparaiso men’s basketball program. The rising junior verbally committed to the Beacons on Wednesday night, becoming the fourth newcomer, and second under Roger Powell, to join the roster for the 2023-24 season. Stafford will have two years of immediate eligibility.
