WBB: Valparaiso opens Hoops in the Heartland against UIC on Thursday

MOLINE - Olivia Brown and Ava Interrante sat side by side on the bench last Saturday following Valparaiso’s final game of the regular season. Jill Harris and Emma Tecca took up positions standing on the mezzanine with their teammates filling in alongside them.

All eyes were trained on the scoreboard at the Athletics-Recreation Center as the Valparaiso women’s basketball program aired a video honoring its quartet of seniors that had just played the final home game of their careers.

While the video included recorded messages from family members of each of the four exiting seniors, emotions were raised when current players, including fellow senior Leah Earnest, added their testimonials.
