CHICAGO - Carin Avery turned to the referee and calmly asked for a timeout, even if there wasn’t anything calm about what the Valparaiso volleyball coach was feeling at the moment.
The Beacons were already down two sets to UIC in the regular-season finale on Wednesday night and now the Flames had rattled off seven straight points to start the third set.
Avery rose from the bench and began walking toward the Valparaiso huddle, ready to give the players a piece of her mind.
