Marovich opens up after blowout loss
SOC: Valparaiso falls 8-0 to nationally-ranked Xavier for second straight loss
VALPARAISO - Thursday night was painful for the Valparaiso women’s soccer program.
Longtime coach John Marovich wasn’t going to pretend otherwise.
Nationally-ranked Xavier turned Brown Field into its own version of target practice on Thursday as the Musketeers routed the Beacons 8-0. Xavier scored the first three goals of the night off corner kicks and the next three were unassisted as the No. 15 team in the country went into halftime with a 6-0 advantage. The visitors added two more goals in the second half for Valparaiso’s biggest defeat since a 9-0 loss to Ohio State on Nov. 2, 1996.
The Victory Bell caught up with Marovich after Thursday’s match to get his thoughts on the outcome.
