Everybody needs a break every now and then.
Football and basketball get halftime. Baseball gets the seventh inning stretch and bowling gets a beer frame.
I need a break as well. I’m jumping in a car tomorrow and heading southeast to knock out a few more baseball stadiums. We’ve seen 24 so far and will be to 27 by the end of the trip. I’m also going to catch up with some old friends, including some Valpo alums. I’m looking forward to getting out of town for a much-needed break.
I’m also looking forward to returning and sharing a ton of new content at The Victory Bell in the back half of summer. I’ll return to Valpo in mid-July with a host of stories, including the following…
A detailed conversation with Valparaiso director of athletics Laurel Hosmer about how the House settlement impacts the Beacons.
A podcast with first-year women’s basketball coach Courtney Boyd where we’ll talk about how she built her roster and explore her program foundation of Ignite, Rise, Electrify, Achieve and Outshine.
A deep dive into Roger Powell’s REV Foundation and how he uses a harrowing moment from his childhood as the bedrock for a life of service.
As the calendar flips to August, season previews will start for the fall sports, including position-by-position previews for football, soccer and volleyball. I’m also deep into research on a historical series that will be released later this year.
With a lot coming on the plate, I’m going to take the next two weeks and recharge the batteries. Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to sharing all this content with you later this summer.
