Injury Report: Paul Oren - OUT (COVID-Related Illness)
Well, after nearly four years, I (finally?) tested positive for COVID on Friday afternoon. I’d been experiencing symptoms since Tuesday and have been pretty much relegated to my bed for the last several days. My doctor says the worst of it is in the rearview mirror and with some drugs and rest, I’ll be as good as new by next week.
I count myself as one of the lucky ones who has been able to avoid testing positive for COVID for this long. I know that not everyone has been so fortunate and that many have lost loved ones to this disease. My heart goes out to those who have been impacted by COVID.
It feels almost silly to be frustrated by COVID, knowing how mild of a case I apparently have. My bigger frustration is not delivering the content that you all pay for at The Victory Bell.
I hated missing the home men’s basketball game on Wednesday. I interviewed Mary Evans on Thursday after the women’s basketball team dominated Bradley, but I had to mute the phone several times during coughing attacks. I had plans on getting out a Valpo baseball season preview ahead of today’s Opening Day and I’ve already pushed back an interview on a third-generation legacy athlete at Valpo for a story that will be coming later this spring.
I’m going to rest up for the weekend and be back next week with the coverage you’ve come to expect. Thank you for your support at The Victory Bell and I’ll see you soon.
Take care of yourself, Paul.
Get well PO. Thanks for all you do with the TVB.
