VALPARAISO - The dress rehearsals are over for the Valparaiso men’s basketball team.

After a closed “secret scrimmage” against Ball State last Saturday and an open “secret exhibition” against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods on Wednesday night, the Beacons are finally ready to play games that matter.

While there will be no box score made public from Wednesday’s 93-65 victory over the Pomeroys - perhaps for gamesmanship reasons as the Beacons prepare to open the season against Liberty on Monday - The Victory Bell was on hand along with a crowd over more than a thousand anxious fans who were eager for basketball season to begin.

Here are five observations from Valparaiso’s exhibition win.
