VALPARAISO - Wednesday afternoon was a time for reactions.

Tyler Schmidt’s family section erupting in cheers after the fifth-year senior scored with a second left on the shot clock.

All Wright flexing down the court after a sequence where he knocked down a 3-pointer, stole the ball and scored again.

Roger Powell Jr. breathing a sigh of relief after his Valparaiso men’s basketball team held off multiple runs by Northern Illinois to pull out an 87-82 win at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

The Beacons have now won three games in a row for the first time under Powell.
