VALPARAISO - Landon Fox was having a bit of deja vu on Saturday night as the Valparaiso football team held on for a 20-17 win over Indiana Wesleyan under the lights at Brown Field.

The game played out almost exactly like Valpo’s 2022 win over the Wildcats as Ryan Hawk drilled a 37-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter and then Valparaiso’s delivered a pair of stops to hold off IWU.

Between Valparaiso’s special teams heroics, Caron Tyler’s rushing ability and a strong defensive front, it was fun night at Brown Field.

Here are five of my takeaways from Valparaiso’s home opener.
