There’s no question that Cooper Schwieger is proud of the fact he was named the Freshman of the Year in the Missouri Valley Conference after last season.

Why wouldn’t he be?

The Valparaiso forward exploded onto the scene, averaging 13.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor and 36 percent from the 3-point line. Those numbers jumped up in conference play to 14.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 52 percent from the floor and 39 percent from the 3-point line.

While Schwieger is proud of the accomplishment, he also hasn’t spent the summer polishing his trophy - for one major reason.
