Defense dominates in Valparaiso spring game

FB: Experienced unit tallies 10 sacks and fumble recovery while holding offense to one touchdown

Sam Hafner could only stare at his hands.

The Valparaiso defensive lineman stood in shock as he nearly came up with an interception from starting quarterback Mikey Appel Jr. during the second quarter of Sunday’s annual spring football game.

It wasn’t just that Hafner was shocked he didn’t come up with the ball. He was shocked there was a play that didn’t go the defenses way on Sunday.

There weren’t many of them.
