BREAKING: Charles Small steps down at Valparaiso

Small had served as Director of Athletics for nearly two years

Valparaiso director of athletics Charles Small announced his resignation on Monday morning to “pursue new opportunities for him and his family.”

The move comes nearly two years after Small was hired by Valparaiso to replace the retiring Mark LaBarbera.

Valparaiso President José Padilla named Deputy Athletic Director for Revenue Generation & Senior Woman Administrator Laurel Hosmer as the Interim Director of Athletics. A national search for a permanent hire will begin immediately.

“This was not an easy decision for me, but I believe the time is right to pursue new opportunities for me and my family,” Small said in a statement released by the school. “I am grateful for the opportunity President José Padilla provided me. My family will always remember the warm welcome extended by the Valparaiso community when we arrived.”
