Construction in the Brown Field parking lot meant the Valparaiso women’s soccer team had to take a longer walk to the Victory Bell on Sunday afternoon.

Just as Valparaiso is making enhancements to the athletics facilities, the Beacons are busy making their own progress, capping off a clean opening weekend with a 1-0 victory over Youngstown State. Valpo opened the 2022 campaign on Thursday with a road draw at Eastern Illinois.

While taking 164 minutes into the season to score the first goal might have been longer than expected, Valparaiso coach John Marovich thinks there’s plenty more goals and wins coming in the future.
