VALPARAISO - Molly O’Rear packed up her gear and walked off Brown Field on Thursday night, never turning back to look at the scoreboard.

The Valparaiso junior was already focused on the future.

The Beacons fell 1-0 to Indiana State in the Missouri Valley Conference opener on Thursday despite having plenty of opportunities to find an equalizer. O’Rear got a clean look with 73 seconds remaining, but missed it to the right.

It was that kind of night for Valpo.
