VALPARAISO - Moments before Thursday night’s season opener at Brown Field, Valparaiso women’s soccer senior Eve Miller went up to teammate Maya Tyburowski and gave her a long embrace.
When the two pulled apart, Miller headed toward the field to play against Western Illinois while Tyburowski made her way back to the sideline with crutches and a large knee brace.
Tyburowski is one of several Valparaiso players who have already suffered a season-ending injury this year and the sidelined Beacons were on the minds of the players who did take the pitch on Thursday night.
