ST. LOUIS - All the talk going into Thursday night’s Arch Madness opener against UIC was about whether or not Valparaiso could get a third scorer to take some of the offensive load off Cooper Schwieger and All Wright.

It turns out shutting down UIC’s offense proved to be just as valuable.

Schwieger and Wright played some of their finest games in a Valparaiso uniform while the Beacons combined to play their best defense of the season in a 67-50 rout over the Flames that was nowhere as close as the final score would indicate.
