MBB: Valparaiso fold down the stretch in Stafford's return

CHICAGO - Valparaiso’s longest losing streak of the 21st century has featured some blowout defeats and some soul-crushing losses.

Saturday’s loss to UIC certainly fell into the latter category after the Beacons snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with a 70-64 loss at Credit Union 1 Arena.

The returning Isaiah Stafford scored a layup to tie the game at 62-62 with 8:20 remaining on Saturday night. Valparaiso’s defense would lock down and hold the Flames to just eight points for the rest of the night. The Beacons lost by six.
