Position-by-position previews rolling out for Valparaiso starting Monday

The Summer Olympics are in the books, and in a way, so is the summer of 2024.

Yes, I know that summer doesn’t officially end until late September, but for those of us that operate under an academic calendar, the waning days of summer are most definitely here.

One season ends and another begins. In the case of Valparaiso University, there are several seasons set to launch in the coming days.

Sunday marked the first exhibition match of the year for Valpo women’s soccer, Media Day for the football team and the first practice of the year for the volleyball team. It’s safe to say that all three programs are full speed ahead with the changing of the calendar.

We’ve also got a calendar at The Victory Bell and it looks pretty full right now. Beginning on Monday, Aug. 12, TVB will be running position-by-position previews nearly every day from now until the end of the month.

Each of the 18 positional previews will include a feature story on one of Valparaiso’s athletes as well as an in-depth look at the returners and newcomers for each group. A bulk of these interviews have already been conducted and I can’t wait to share these stories.

Stories of overcoming adversity, both mental and physical. Stories of accomplishing dreams and creating new ones. Stories about finding identity, both on and off the field. Stories about elite athletes and better people.

Summer break is over and it’s time to get to work. I hope you join all of us for the ride.
